Solution 1: Disable Windows Error Reporting Service

Follow these steps:

1. Press Win+R (Windows logo key and R key) at the same time. A Run dialog box will open.

2. Type services.msc in the run box and click on OK button.



3. Locate Windows Error Reporting Service and double-click on it to open Properties dialog box.


4. In General tab, set “Startup type” as Disabled and click on Apply then OK buttons.

Try Antivirus Software

Now that WerFault.exe error is probably caused by viruses; you can try to use Windows Defender.

Run Windows Defender Security Center --> Virus & threat protection --> click Scan now to perform a quick scan.

After removing possible threats, restart the PC to see if the error still exists.


Method1

I would suggest that you stop and restart the Windows error reporting service on the computer and later check if the issue persists.

  • a)   Press Windows Key + X and select Run and type services.msc in the Run box and press Enter.
  • b)   In the service list navigate to the Windows error reporting service.
  • c)    Right click and click on properties now stop the service and restart it.
  • d)   Click Apply and OK

If issue didn't get resolve try method 2,

Method 2: I would suggest that you perform clean boot procedure to check if any third party program installed on the computer is causing the issue.

  • PressWindows key + X key. And selectRun.
  • Type msconfig in the Run box and hit Enter.
  • On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.
  • On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click Open Task Manager.
  • On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click Disable.
  • Close Task Manager.
  • On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click OK, and then restart the computer.
